About
The Political Podium is a blogging community dedicated to the authorship of college aged students with an interest in – and passion for – politics. All too often politics are burdened by unnecessary and overt polarization that does little more than increase the seemingly ever-widening political gulf between different schools of thought. It is an inevitable fact that whether you identify as a Republican or Democrat, conservative or liberal, libertarian or progressive, we must learn to live, work, legislate and govern together. Though we need not always get along and though there are – perhaps – irreconcilable differences in various political ideologies, an environment that fosters respect instead of rhetoric is a desirable goal.
We encourage exposition, debate, rebuttal and discussion amongst our authors and subscribers alike. Topics ranging from esoteric, erudite political theory to current news, legislation and events within the United States and around the world are all welcome. Our authors range from across the political spectrum and the Political Podium does not seek to cater to any particular ideology.
Our initial wave of invitations are being sent to College Republicans and College Democrats at the ‘Top 20 Academic Universities’, as ranked by U.S. News and World Report in 2010, as well as College Republicans at the top 20 ‘Most Conservative Students’ colleges and College Democrats at the top 20 ‘Most Liberal Students’ colleges as ranked by The Princeton Review. We are, however, planning on expanding as rapidly as allowed by our user base, and if you are a college student interested in writing here, please do not hesitate to contact us.
